聖母マリアと希望について

3月23日に、諏訪司教の導きのもとで、いずみブロックの四旬節黙想会が行われました。その時話の流れにそって、聖書からのいくつかの句を紹介されました。
「待ち望め 主の日を 心を 主に向け」
「主に頼る人は さいわい 主に希望をおく人」など。
司教さまがギターで、私たちはその句を、一つまた一つゆっくりと歌うことになりました。とてもよい祈りのひと時でした。希望についての言葉は、聖書のなかで数えられないほど多くあります。実は、旧約聖書はメシアを待ち望む本であって、「希望の時」であります。
当然、主イエスも聖母マリアもよく詩編などの祈りを唱えられました。祈りだけでなく、生涯を通して希望をもって生きておられました。マリアさまの場合、お告げの時からイエスが十字架につけられて亡くなったときまで、いつも希望の光に支えられました。教会においては、昔から５月は”聖母マリアの月”となっています。最も唱えられてきた祈りは、「福音書のまとめ」と呼ばれるロザリオでした。
ご存じのように、今年は聖年に当たり、教会がわたしたちに「希望の巡礼者」となるよう促しています。この呼びかけを大切にしながら、全世界の同じ「希望」をもっている姉妹と兄弟と心を合わせて祈りましょう。どんな状況であっても、永遠の国の完全な幸せを「待ち望む」ことができます。わたしたちも、主イエスと聖母マリアに目を向けながら、希望をもたらすものとなりますように。最後に、聖ペトロの希望についての言葉を聞きましょう。「心のなかで主キリストをあがめなさい。あなたがたが抱いている希望について問いただす人には、いつでも、答えられるように用意していなさい。それも、やさしく、慎み深く、正しい思いをもって、答えなさい。」（ペトロの第一の手紙、3,15-16）

On March 23, under the guidance of Bishop Suwa, the Izumi Block held a Lenten silent retreat. At that time, along with the flow of the talk, he introduced some phrases from the Bible. “Wait for the day of the Lord, and set your hearts on the Lord”
“Blessed is the man who relies on the Lord, for he will put his hope in the Lord”
The bishop played the guitar and we sang the phrases, one by one, slowly. It was a very good time of prayer. There are too many words about hope in the Bible to count. In fact, the Old Testament is a book of waiting for the Messiah, a “time of hope“. Naturally, both the Lord Jesus and the Virgin Mary often recited psalms and other prayers. Not only did they pray, but they lived with hope throughout their lives. In the case of Mary, she was always sustained by the light of hope from the time of the Annunciation to the time of Jesus’ death on the cross.
In the Catholic Church, May has always been the month of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The most recited prayer has been the Rozary, called the “Summary of the Gospels.
As you know, this is the Holy Year and the Church is urging us to be “pilgrims of hope. Treasuring this call, let us pray together with our sisters and brothers who have the same “hope” in the whole world. No matter what our circumstances, we can “look forward” to the full happiness of the eternal Kingdom. May we, too, look to the Lord Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary to bring hope. Finally, let us hear what St. Peter has to say about hope. “Praise Christ the Lord in your hearts. Be ready to answer anyone who asks you about the hope you have. Be ready to answer them with gentleness, modesty and righteousness.”(First Epistle of Peter 3,15-16)
